Managing Director and CEO
Dr. V. Prasada Raju is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. He was appointed on 1st November 2020 as the Whole-Time Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and consequently appointed as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer with effect from 10th March 2021. He is responsible for the overall business of the Company and is reporting to the Board of Directors of the Company.
In addition to having a PhD in chemistry and PG Dip in patents law, he is also an alumni of the IIMc under Sr Management programme and IIT, Chicago, USA, where he was trained in material sciences.
He has 28+ years of techno commercial experience in the pharmaceutical space across the value chain, Dr V. Prasada Raju served in various leadership roles at Granules India Limited and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.
He served as an Executive Director in Granules India Ltd. Responsible for driving Growth strategy, Product portfolio, Scientific affairs, Regulatory affairs, Intellectual property and New Business initiatives. Led and built R&D and Green field projects. Also served on the Boards of Granules Omnichem Pvt ltd (Vizag, India), Granules Pharmaceuticals Inc., (DC, USA) and USpharma ltd (FL, USA).
Granules was his second professional assignment between 2012 and 2019
Prior to this, he served as a Director, Project Management, Integrated Product development Organisation of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. It includes over 17+ years of techno commercial experience, providing technical, strategic and operational leadership in uniquely challenging positions across various disciplines of pharma (1994-2012)
Mr. Sunil Uttarwar
Chief Operating Officer
Sunil is a Chemical Engineer from BITS Pilani and an MBA in Finance from ICFAI. He comes with more than 27 years of rich experience with companies like MacLeod’s Pharma, Elder, Matrix, Alembic, Cipla, Lupin, Emcure and Sun pharma in the domain of Manufacturing and Operations, Projects and Operational Excellence.
He brings with him the experience in delivering value in the areas of Operations. Considering the Business needs. For the platform he drives Operational Transformation by working closely with various cross functional teams & the leadership team in order to bring sustainability to our Business
His focus area would be to unlock intrinsic value of all the units, drive synergies across units, streamline and build robust processes while ensuring People & Infrastructure Safety, Product Quality and Business Delivery. He reports to the Managing Director and CEO.
Mr. K. Nagendra Babu
Chief Quality and Compliance Officer
Dr. K. Nagendra Babu comes with 25+ Years of comprehensive experience (Finished Dosage and API’s) in the fields of Global Audit and Compliance, Vendor Management, Third Party Management, Quality Operations (QA, QC, DQA & CQA), Manufacturing of Finished Dosage, Manufacturing of API’s and in conducting Quality Audits of varied suppliers. Dr. K. Nagendra Babu comes with experiences gained from Mylan Pharmaceuticals (Viatris), Gravity Pharmaceuticals Private Limited, Granules India Limited, Mylan Pharmaceuticals (Mylan Inc.) GSK Pharmaceuticals Limited, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories and Aurobindo Pharma Limited.
Dr. K. Nagendra Babu, with his Doctorate in Chemistry and the numerous trainings that he has undergone, has robust understanding of various quality operations, regulatory affairs and GxP audit process. He will work closely with the Quality Operations, regulatory Affairs and the Operations team in designing and implementation of best in class quality and compliance standards and systems. He reports to Managing Director and CEO.

Mr. Sumit Kumar, the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Cohance Lifesciences, has 23 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong focus on API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) sales and marketing across diverse global markets. His expertise spans various regions, including North America, China, India, and the Middle East. With a strategic mindset and adept leadership abilities, Sumit consistently surpasses expectations, delivering impressive results throughout his career. His proficiency in strategic planning, financial management, market expansion, team leadership, and relationship building is evident in his roles and his substantial accomplishments.
His career trajectory reflects his ability to build and nurture key customer relationships, drive business expansion, and execute market entry strategies. His educational background includes an MBA, complementing his hands-on experience with a solid foundation in business management.
At Cohance Lifesciences, Sumit Kumar is poised to leverage his extensive expertise to propel the company’s growth trajectory, optimise resource allocation, and spearhead strategic initiatives across diverse verticals. As a strategic leader, he ensures alignment with corporate objectives, fosters innovation, and drives sustainable revenue growth. He provides regular updates and communicates directly with the Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Pushkar Lakhekar
Chief Transformation Officer
An Engineer at heart, Pushkar completed his Chemical Engineering from UDCT Mumbai and then went on to complete his Post Graduation Certificate in Management from IIM, Indore. Pushkar has 22+ years of experience in process engineering, technology transfer, scale up and project management of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals products. He has experience of technical engagement with large global pharmaceutical clients. His expertise is in infrastructure projects and development of complex molecules, safety and change management in API technical operations.
He built these capabilities while working with Dr. Reddy’s, Glenmark Life Sciences, Mylan Laboratories Ltd. and Makhteshim Agan India Pvt. Ltd.
For the API platform, he drives Value Creation Plan (VCP) agenda by working closely with cross functional teams, centralising and standardizing various business practices of existing and newer assets to transform overall businesses. He reports to the Managing Director and CEO.
Mr. Natarajan Swaminathan
Chief Supply Chain Officer
Swami comes with more than 30 years of experience in the field of Planning (Demand & Production), Sourcing and Logistics (both inbound and outbound) along with cross-functional exposure in Sales & IT spanning across manufacturing and service industries such as beverages, paints, chemicals and pharma. He has gained his experience while working with companies like Granules India Ltd., Nippon Paints India Pvt. Ltd., Pidilite Industries Limited, ICI India Limited, Mafatlal Industries Ltd and Brooke Bond – Lipton India Limited.
Swami brings with him a highly operational and hands-on approach of working towards achieving desired outcomes in strategic sourcing, inventory optimisation and bringing efficiencies in Logistic Operations. Swami reports to the Managing Director and CEO.
Dr. Saswata Lahiri
Chief Business Officer
Dr. Saswata Lahiri, Chief Business Officer for the Platform CDMO Business, started his career with Lupin Limited in the year 1998, contributing towards the development of non-infringing technology for API and filing of patent applications, thereby generating intellectual property for the company. Over the years, he has worked with reputed companies like Ranbaxy Laboratories, Advinus Therapeutics, Mylan Laboratories and Fresenius Kabi. Before joining the platform, Dr. Lahiri was associated with PI Industries, where he played a key role in the company’s foray into the pharmaceutical sector.
Dr. Lahiri’s expertise lies in portfolio selection, strategy development, and technology transfer of new products within timelines and at the desired cost.
He has been involved in filing more than 40 patents and has close to 5 publications to his credit in leading journals worldwide.
Dr Lahiri brings a deep understanding of the niche & complex molecule market and a passion for science to the CDMO Platform of Cohance. For the platform, he will drive the vertical growth agenda by working closely with innovator companies and positioning the company as a partner of choice. He reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
